Provision when the rent was due

Rent was due on the 5th and we were $1,200 short. It was not a hypothetical stress — it was the fourth month in a row things had been tight, and this time there was nothing left to move around. I had already called the landlord and asked for an extension. He said no. That Sunday morning I told God, "I do not know how You are doing this. I am not asking for a raise or a lottery. I just need enough for this month." I did not tell anyone at church. I did not post about it. I just sat in the back row and cried through worship. Wednesday evening my wife opened the front door to grab the trash bin and there was a plain white envelope on the mat. No note. No name. Inside was $1,200 in cash. Exactly. Not $1,000 rounded off. Not $1,500 to be nice. Twelve hundred dollars — the exact number I had told nobody. I still do not know who left it. I do not need to know. Jehovah Jireh — the God who provides — is not a story in a book. He is real, and He sees.
