Sanctuary: the Scripture-grounded assistant
How Sanctuary answers questions, how answers are saved and moderated, and the limits that protect it from abuse.
How it works
Ask a question about the Bible or Christian life and Sanctuary answers from Scripture, citing passages where it can. The chat sits in the middle of the home page on a computer, and directly under the header on a phone.
Questions that are clearly off-topic are politely turned away rather than answered.
Saved answers
Every question and answer is saved as a card so the next person asking something similar sees the existing answer instantly instead of generating a new one. You can expand a card on the home page to read the full answer, or flag it if something looks wrong.
Protection against abuse
Sanctuary is protected on several fronts so it cannot be run up as a cost or misused.
- Rate limits per visitor, so no single person can flood it.
- A monthly usage allowance across the whole site.
- A hard spending cap that stops the assistant rather than overspending.
- An administrator dashboard showing usage, cost and flagged answers.
