Adam and Eve, the first two people to come to earth...

According to the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim religions, Adam and Eve were the first man and woman on Earth and were created by God. While they lived in the Garden of Eden for a time, they ate the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and were forced to leave. According to Christianity, they committed the first sin and are responsible for the human race's fallen nature.

God spent six days creating Earth and on the seventh day, he rested. His final creation on the sixth day was a man whom he named Adam. Adam was made from the dust of the ground and God's own breath. God gave Adam control over all the plants and animals and gave him specific instructions to not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. He said, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, for when you eat from it, you will certainly die." (Genesis 2:17) While Adam was living in paradise in the Garden of Eden, he was still lonely. God saw this and said, "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." (Genesis 2:18)

Adam and Eve were the first of Heavenly Father’s children to live on earth. They lived in the beautiful Garden of Eden, surrounded by all sorts of plants and trees. God our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ visited them and talked to them. God let them eat the fruit of every tree but one. If they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they would have to leave the garden and would eventually die. Satan lied to Adam and Eve. Satan said if they ate the fruit, they would know good and evil but they would not die.

Adam and Eve told God that they chose to eat the fruit. Because of their choice, they had to leave the Garden of Eden. They were separated from God, but He had a plan for them. Now they knew right from wrong and could have children.

Adam and Eve promised to obey all of God’s commandments. They were taught to make animal sacrifices. As they obeyed, they learned more about God’s Son Jesus Christ. They both felt great joy because He would help their family return to God. Because Adam and Eve fell, we are all able to come to earth to receive a body, learn, and become more like God and Jesus Christ so we can return to live with Them again someday.

Adam and Eve left paradise to seek progression. Because they ate the fruit, we all have the opportunity to be born on the earth and to learn and progress. We all can learn the difference between good and evil, experience joy, and grow and become better. We will also all experience sadness and, eventually, death. But because Jesus Christ gave His life for us, we can all overcome the effects of the Fall. We will all be resurrected, and if we live righteously and follow Jesus, we can all be redeemed and return to live with God again.
